Learning Matters Summer Camp
Children entering 1st through 6th grade are invited to participate in a four-week exploratory summer camp. Activities include art projects, cooking, gardening, nature exploration, sports and games, and reading time. One highlight of the summer is a daylong camping trip to the Little House of Glencoe, where the children roast s’mores, go hiking, and spend an interactive day outside of Chicago. Older youth are invited to be volunteer Learning Matters interns, providing peer leadership and program support for the younger children.
Learning Matters’ half-day program runs Tuesday through Thursday from June 27-July 20. Families select either the morning session (9:00 a.m.-12 noon) or the afternoon session (12 noon-4:00 p.m.).

Chicagobility Teen Program
Family Matters’ Chicagobility teen summer program, a site for the City of Chicago’s One Summer Chicago program, invites 14 and 15 year-olds to participate in a six-week exploration program. From the end of June through mid-August, teens participate in focused community service activities, games, and sports; learn job skills; and build relationships with other teens from across the city. Participants earn a weekly stipend.
Chicagobility applications are accepted via the City of Chicago’s One Summer Chicago portal.
