Director of Development
Community has been a central theme in Amanda’s life. A Chicago-area native, she earned an A.A. from Harper Community College, is a 200-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher), and received a B.S. in Marketing from DePaul University; she is currently pursuing an M.A. in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies at Loyola University.
In 2015, Rogers Park (RP) became her first home-away-from-home, and the next year she found a warm and fulfilling connection with Family Matters as an Evening Tutor. She joins the team now as Development Director with over five years of corporate experience and two years working in a local community college’s educational foundation.
Fascinated by the language and structures that shape our everyday lives, you’ll often find her walking near the “Artists of the Wall” bench which lines RP’s beaches…noticing beauty in the ordinary and unexpected. A key area of interest for her lies in the temporality of mindfulness practices and relationships within education, as she seeks to support those who work with youth on our shared path towards a more empathetic and equitable world.
Amanda is grateful for the sustaining care and guidance she’s received from family, friends, youth, and neighbors, and for this opportunity to connect with the entire Family Matters community to collectively affect compassionate, profound change.
