Established in 2019, The Family Matters School is a specialty, culturally competent Kindergarten-4th grade microschool designed to fuel children’s innate desire to learn by offering an engaging curriculum that is inclusive of diverse learning styles and interests, tailored in particular to offer specialized support for children who have sensory sensitivities and/or have survived or are living with complex trauma. The Family Matters School children develop the skills for academic achievement as endorsed by the Illinois State Board of Education. The academic calendar aligns with Chicago Public Schools and The School meets daily from 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. It is the only sensory support school in Chicago offering tuition on a sliding scale so as to be affordable for all families.
