In Partners in Learning (PL), individually matched 1st-12th grade youth/adult pairs meet weekly for 90-minute, one-to-one tutor/mentoring sessions. Partners in Learning is the only tuition-free, one-to-one tutor/mentoring program and the only evening tutoring program in the area.

Partners in Learning provides an opportunity for tutor/mentor pairs to forge deep connections and to learn from, and with, one another. Many pairs have worked together for years. Activities, provided through individualized lesson plans, focus on academic support, social-emotional learning, goal setting, and college- and career-readiness. Weekly activities are supplemented with monthly hands-on science and art projects, sharing circles, and twice-yearly “first-time experience” field trips. As PL relationships develop, it is common for pairs to “branch out” from the Family Matters building for activities such as museum visits, dance classes, driving lessons, performances, and college campus tours.
