Ann’s deep and unwavering love for Rogers Park began the moment she visited the community over a decade ago. After attending the University of Chicago, where she studied ecology and evolution, Ann and her family made the steady march north until they reached Rogers Park, where it was clear they had found their home. Ann quickly became involved with the the then-nascent Glenwood Sunday Market, serving as a volunteer during the market’s 2010 inaugural season where she developed and ran GSM’s Learn & Grow environmental education initiative. When it became clear the farmers market was here to stay, Ann jumped at the opportunity to quit volunteering and join the leadership team as GSM’s Market Manager, a position she held until 2019.

Ann is a trained mediator and holds open communication and radical empathy as core values. She believes Family Matters’ Principles of Leadership has the power to transform communities and is dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission to overcoming structural racism and oppression. She officially joined the Family Matters team as Director of Grants Management in July 2019.

When not working, Ann is an avid cook and baker, focusing on canning seasonal produce. She is a volunteer sewist at Community Glue Workshop, a free monthly repair cafe on Chicago’s North Side with a mission to divert useful items from landfills; a member of Zero Waste Chicago, an organization dedicated to disrupting the conventional waste stream; and an avid animal rescue enthusiast. You will often find her lounging in her garden with her husband, Rob, and rescued pit bull-type dog, Soba, trying to keep the skunks away.
