Volunteer Opportunities

  • Community Tutoring welcomes new tutors throughout the year.  All tutors receive training and support.  During the school year, tutors work weekly with students for 60-90 minute sessions during the school day; after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (2:45-4:45 p.m.); and Monday through Thursday evenings (6:30-8:00 p.m.).
  • Family Connections and the Teen Girls and Teen Boys programs welcome volunteers to provide homework assistance, as well as to share their skills in a wide range of areas including the arts, personal growth and career development.
  • Our annual Walk-A-Thon in May and our Fall Event offer many opportunities for volunteer involvement: committee participation, planning, soliciting financial support and attendance at the events.
  • Our Administrative office welcomes volunteers who are interested in administrative tasks such as computer support, data entry, or assisting staff with mailings. We are also seeking volunteers to assist with organizing our library, which receives numerous in-kind donations of books.
  • The Development office welcomes volunteers to solicit financial support from faith institutions, businesses, foundations and individuals.  We also welcome assistance with our publications, including graphic design, writing, photography and editing.

We have a critical need for volunteers who will work one-on-one with high school seniors, assisting them in filling out post-secondary school application forms and scholarship applications.

We are building a list of volunteers who would be willing to speak to students about their career path. (e.g.  What does a banker do all day and what do you have to do to become one?)

We are looking for volunteers to be:

  •  Board Members
  •  Committee Members
  •  Tutors
  •  Mentors
  •  Workshop Leaders
  •  Storytellers
  •  Photographers
  •  Videographers
  •  Translators

We are looking for volunteers to teach:

  • Interview skills
  • Public speaking
  • Writing
  • Acting
  • Music
